Mountaineer Madness, an entertaining event for fans to preview the West Virginia men’s and women’s basketball teams, will tip off the 2008-09 basketball season on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at the WVU Coliseum. Admission to the event is free for all ages.

Highlights of Mountaineer Madness include men’s and women’s team introductions, speeches from coaches Mike Carey and Bob Huggins, team scrimmages and a slam dunk contest. Other events include t-shirt give-a-ways, highlight videos and performances from the Mountaineer pep band, cheerleaders and dance team.

The Mountaineer men’s and women’s basketball teams are each coming off 20-plus win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007-08.
